On July 19, 2010, the Norwich City Council issued a proclamation recognizing TVCCA for their 45 years of service and support to the community and declaring this TVCCA Week. Below is the wording in the proclamation expressed their gratitude.
WHEREAS, March 22, 1965 Thames Valley Council for Community Action, was incorporated, March 22, 2010 marks their 45th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, throughout a distinguished history, Thames Valley Council for Community Action Inc., is well recognized as a community leader in advocating for and meeting the social needs of the region; and
WHEREAS, Thames Valley Council for Community Action Inc., mission is to improve the overall well being of individuals and families and help them develop the skills that will serve them a lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Thames Valley Council for Community Action Inc., takes an active role in promoting community awareness, input and ownership of societal problems and providing a broad spectrum of comprehensive, quality services; and
WHEREAS, Thames Valley Council for Community Action Inc., in 2010 served over 23,700 clients through their programs and employ over 420 individuals and raised over $26 million in federal, state, local and private resources to provide these programs.
NOW THEREFORE, I, MAYOR PETER ALBERT NYSTROM AND NORWICH CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT PRO TEM, PETE DESAULNIERS, AND ALDERWOMAN DEBEREY HINCHEY, ON BEHALF OF THE NORWICH CITY COUNCIL AND THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF NORWICH, do hereby applaud the commitment Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc., has made, serving our community and supporting the citizens of the Rose of New England and we proudly proclaim the week of July 19, 2010, as Thames Valley Council for Community Action week.
