Our Services

Over the years, we have developed and operated numerous programs that impact on the economically and otherwise disadvantaged populations within our service area. Our services address the needs of the very young to the very old, are locally based, and are coordinated to the greatest extent possible with other area services.

Our 28 programs currently reach approximately 24,000 eligible clients annually. We are funded through grants from the federal, state, municipal and private sectors that range in amounts from hundreds to millions of dollars. Our $19 million dollar program base includes:

  • Head Start
  • Early Child Education
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program
  • Employment and training
  • Housing services including eviction mediation, rental assistance, a 45-bed shelter for the homeless
  • Budget counseling
  • A commissary
  • Community distribution and coordination of emergency services including food, clothing and shelter
  • Elderly nutrition programs
  • Youth independent living skills programs
  • Senior employment and volunteer programs
  • Energy assistance
  • Case management
  • Information and referral
  • Advocacy services

While most of our services are based within New London County, we also offer extensive employment, senior nutrition, child development, and senior volunteer programs in Windham and Tolland Counties.

Through our delegate agency in New London, for whom we act as a planning and financial resource, we provide services in the areas of minority outreach, intake and referral and employment services. We also have contractual relationships with local agencies that provide AIDS information, counseling, referral, and testing services; and a shelter to women in crisis.
