A Moveable Feast is a home delivered nutrition program for residents of New London County that are under 60 years of age and are undergoing treatment for cancer, autoimmune diseases or other acute medical conditions, A total of five meals per week are available for delivery Monday through Thursday. When necessary, meals can also be provided for the other family members. Delivery is hot unless there are delivery challenges such as volunteer availability or treatment schedule. In some cases, frozen meal service is offered as a better option.
Meals are prepared in the TVCCA Commissary and are delivered by staff and dedicated volunteers. A staff nutritionist approves the menus and takes referrals from social service agencies, hospitals, physicians or hospice programs. Family, friends or a self-referral can also be made.
There are no income limits for eligibility. The program is funded through the United Way, several community foundation grants, an annual fundraising event, as well as private donations. Individuals receiving the services also donate.
