Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

The Foster Grandparent Program enables income-eligible persons age 55 and over to remain physically and mentally active to enhance their self-esteem through continued participation in community service.
Foster Grandparent volunteers serve a minimum of 15 hours and they can serve more than 20 hours per week, working one-on-one and in small groups with special needs children and young adults in schools, child care centers, Head Starts, shelters, and group homes.

Benefits include an hourly stipend, secondary accident and liability insurance, transportation and/or mileage reimbursement to sites, a daily meal (where possible). In addition, volunteers attend monthly training sessions and annual recognition and social events.

The Foster Grandparents Program serves New London, Windham, and Tolland counties.
