The Senior Companion Program enables income-eligible persons age 60 and over to remain physically and mentally active and to enhance their self-esteem through continued participation in community services.

Senior Companion Program:
Senior Companion volunteers serve up to 20 hours per week working one-on-one and in small groups with adults in convalescent care who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The Senior Companion Program serves New London and Windham Counties.

Opportunities for Older Adults (OOA):
Senior Companion volunteers serve up to 20 hours per week working one-on-one with mentally challenged adults. Volunteers provide companionship, support and guidance to their clients, while enabling them to improve their self esteem and socialization skills through regular outings, volunteerism, and group projects. The Senior Companion Program/OOA serves New London County.

Benefits of these programs include an hourly stipend, secondary accident and liability insurance, transportation and/or mileage reimbursement to sites, a daily meal (where possible), and an annual physical examination (where possible). In addition, volunteers attend monthly training sessions, the annual recognition, and various social events.
