When Morayma joined TVCCA’s Jobs First Employment Services (JFES) program in February 2025, she was already training to become a phlebotomist. She was excited about a career in healthcare but unsure how to find a full-time job without experience.
With guidance from her Employment Advocate (EA), Morayma learned how to identify her strengths, build experience, and navigate the job market. After completing her internship she began working per diem on weekends while searching for a weekday position that would provide greater financial stability.
When a Program Assistant position opened at an area nonprofit, her EA helped Morayma highlight her strengths during the interview . She applied—and got the job. Today, she is thriving in a position she enjoys while continuing to work toward her goal of becoming a phlebotomist.
Along the way, JFES has helped remove practical barriers through financial assistance that’s helped Morayma pay back taxes and renew her car registration when money was tight. Mileage reimbursement helped her continue working and participating in the program.
Morayma continues monthly meetings with her EA for support and encouragement. She credits TVCCA with helping her regain her confidence, get back on her feet and, most importantly, stay on the path toward the career and future she wants.
